Tour Overview
This Tour is designed to highlight the historical and cultural aspects of Fairbanks with visits to popular destinations like the UA Museum of the North, Morris Thompson Cultural Center, the Pipe Line, Pioneer Park, and the Santa Claus House.
We will pick you up at your hotel around 11am and then head to downtown Fairbanks and the banks of the Chena River to see where and how Fairbanks got its start. We’ll visit Golden Heart Park, and the Yukon Quest Sled Dog Race Headquarters downtown, and then it’s on to the Morris Thompson Cultural Center, where the cultural heritage of the regions Native people is highlighted. We then visit the Pipe Line which runs from the North Slope of Alaska 800 miles south to Valdez. At the University of Alaska, we’ll stop at the Large Animal Research Station, where we’ll have the chance to see Musk Ox and Reindeer, and the UA Museum of the North. We then take you to North Pole, Alaska, to visit the Santa Claus House. Finally, our last stop will be at Pioneer Park. There we will see historical buildings, the largest sternwheeler built in Alaska, the air museum, and artifacts from the early days of Fairbanks. You’ll get the chance to grab a snack or some ice cream as well. Then it’s back to your hotel by 4:30pm.
